How Drop-Off and Delivery Works at Dirty Details

5 min read

Most people's mental model of getting a vehicle cleaned is either a drive-through wash or a guy with a van who shows up at your house.

We're neither. We get asked how it actually works often enough that it's worth laying out plainly.

We're Appointment-Based, Not a Drive-Through

You don't pull up and get in line. You book a slot and we hold it for your vehicle.

This isn't us being precious about it. A real detail takes hours of hands-on work — extraction, degreasing, decontamination, getting into places that need to be reached properly. You can't run that off a queue. If we let people just show up, either you'd wait around for half a day or we'd rush your vehicle to clear the lot.

Neither is what you want.

So: book a slot, either through dirtydetails.ca/book or by calling (604) 845-4060. Tell us what the vehicle is and roughly what state it's in. That last part matters — a tidy commuter sedan and a work truck that's been hauling since spring need different amounts of time, and knowing which one is coming lets us plan the day properly.

We're a Shop, Not a Mobile Service

Worth being clear about this one because people ask.

We don't do mobile or on-site detailing. We don't come to your driveway, your office parking lot, or your farm. Everything happens at the shop at 44344 B Yale Rd in Chilliwack.

That's a deliberate choice. Proper detailing needs real equipment — extraction machines, water, power, controlled space to work. A van in your driveway is doing a smaller version of the job with whatever fits in the back of the van. We'd rather have the full setup and do the work properly.

But We Deliver It Back to You

Here's the part that solves the obvious problem with being shop-based.

We deliver the finished vehicle back to you. You don't need to arrange a ride, sit in a waiting room, or organize somebody to follow you down and pick you up.

Drop it off, go about your day, and we bring it back clean.

That covers our whole service area — Chilliwack, Sardis, Vedder, Yarrow, Rosedale, Cultus Lake, Agassiz, Abbotsford and Hope. When you book, tell us where you want it back and we'll sort it out.

What Happens While It's Here

We look at the vehicle first, before anything starts.

That matters because a chunk of our work is quoted on sight rather than flat-rated — heavy pet hair, odour removal, leather conditioning, salt stains, seat extraction. Those get a real number after we've looked at the actual vehicle, and the number comes before we start, not at pickup. We wrote up exactly what drives those quotes in our post on why some add-ons are quote-only.

The flat-rate stuff doesn't need any of that:

The Complete starts at $425 and climbs with size and severity, and you'll hear that up front too. Full breakdown on the detailing cost page.

If we find something genuinely unexpected mid-job, we call you. You decide. We don't do surprise line items.

How to Make Drop-Off Go Smoothly

Not requirements, just things that help:

  • Take your personal stuff out. Anything valuable, anything you'll need that day. We work around what's left, but an empty vehicle gets cleaned more thoroughly than a full one.
  • Pull the car seats if you can. We can't clean what's bolted over. Out means we get the whole floor.
  • Empty the cargo area and trunk. Same reason.
  • Tell us what you actually care about. If the thing bugging you is the smell, or the dog hair, or one specific stain, say so. We'll tell you honestly what we can do about it.
  • Mention anything unusual. A leak, a spill you know about, something we should avoid. Better said at drop-off than discovered.
  • Book ahead for work rigs. If you run trucks you need on the job, call and we'll plan the timing around your schedule. More on that in our work truck detailing and farm vehicle pages.

What We Won't Do

Being upfront saves everybody a phone call.

We don't do ceramic coating, paint correction, polishing or buffing, clay bar, wax, sealant, scratch removal, tint, wraps or PPF. We clean vehicles — properly, inside and out. If what you need is paint work, we'll point you at the right shop instead of dabbling. Full reasoning in our post on why we don't do ceramic coating.

First Time?

If you've never had a vehicle properly detailed, our post on what to expect at your first car detail covers the rest of it. And if you're not sure which package you want, interior vs. complete works through that decision.

Short version: don't overthink it. Call us, describe the vehicle, and we'll tell you what it needs — including when it needs less than you were about to book.

The Bottom Line

Book a slot, drop it off at 44344 B Yale Rd, and we deliver it back to you clean. No lineups, no waiting room, no van in your driveway doing a compromised version of the job.

Book at dirtydetails.ca/book or call (604) 845-4060. We've been doing this in Chilliwack since 2020, and the filthy ones are still our favourite.

FAQ

Q: Do you come to me? A: Not for the detailing — no mobile or on-site work. We do deliver the finished vehicle back to you, which covers the same inconvenience without compromising the job.

Q: Can I wait while it's done? A: A proper detail is hours of work, not minutes. Drop-off with delivery back is the better plan for everyone.

Q: How far do you deliver? A: Chilliwack, Sardis, Vedder, Yarrow, Rosedale, Cultus Lake, Agassiz, Abbotsford and Hope. Tell us where when you book.

Q: Can I just show up? A: We're appointment-based, so call first. Booking a slot means your vehicle gets the hours it needs instead of getting squeezed between other jobs.
